How Do I Change the Status of a WordPress Post?

Changing the status of a WordPress post can be useful for a variety of reasons. For example, you might want to change the post’s status from published to unpublished, or from draft to published.

You can also change the post’s status to indicate that it is being worked on, or that it is awaiting review.

To change the status of a WordPress post, first click the “Posts” menu item in the WordPress admin area, and then click the “Post” button. In the “Post” dialog box, click the “Status” tab.

To change the status of a WordPress post from published to unpublished, for example, click the “Unpublished” check box. To change the status of a WordPress post from draft to published, click the “Published” check box. To change the status of a WordPress post to indicate that it is being worked on, or that it is awaiting review, click one of the following radio buttons:

In the “Status” field, you can also click the “Edit” link to open the post’s “Status Update” screen. In the “Status Update” screen, you can add a new status, change the status of an existing status, or delete the status update.

To change the status of a WordPress blog post, first click the “Blogs” menu item in the WordPress admin area, and then click the “Blog” button. In the “Blog” dialog box, click the “Post Type” tab.

Then, in the “Post Type” dialog box, click the “Posts” tab. Under “Post Type Options,” click the “Status” button.
