How Do I Customize a Category Page in WordPress?
If you’re running a WordPress site, chances are you’ve got a category page to deal with. But how do you customize it to make it your own?
There are a few things you can do to make your category page look and work the way you want it to. First and foremost, you’ll want to make sure you have the right category set up in WordPress.
In order to do this, go to the Settings menu and select Settings > Category. You’ll need to fill in the Title and slug of the category you want to use, and then click Save.
Once you’ve got the category set up, you’ll want to make sure your category page is set up the way you want it. To do this, go to the Pages menu and select Pages > Category.
You’ll see a list of all the pages in your site, and you’ll see the Category page listed at the top. Click on it to get started.
On the Category page, you’ll want to make sure you have the following settings configured:
Title: The title of your category page
The title of your category page Description: The description of your category page
The description of your category page Page template: The page template you want to use for your category page
The page template you want to use for your category page Custom fields: Any custom fields you want to include on your category page
Any custom fields you want to include on your category page Taxonomies: Any taxonomies you want to include on your category page
Any taxonomies you want to include on your category page Default category: The default category for posts in this category
The default category for posts in this category Default tag: The default tag for posts in this category
The default tag for posts in this category Order by: The order you want posts in this category to appear
Once you’ve set up the settings on your category page, you’ll want to start creating posts in that category. To do this, go to the Posts menu and select Posts in this category.
You’ll see a list of all the posts in your site, and you can start editing them as you would any other post.
When you’re finished editing a post, you’ll want to click on the category link at the top of the post screen to get back to the Category page. You’ll see the post list again, but this time you’ll also see a list of all the tags in that category.
Click on a tag to get a list of all the posts in that tag.
Once you’ve found the post you want to edit, you’ll want to click on the post title to get to the post’s details screen. You’ll see the same set of settings you saw on the Category page, including the order in which the post should appear, the title, and the description.
You can also add any custom fields you want to the post’s details screen.
When you’re finished editing the post, click on the Publish button to publish it to your site.
That’s all there is to it! Your category page is now set up the way you want it and you can start publishing posts in it the way you want. Just make sure you check the settings on the page every time you add a new post so you don’t miss any changes.
